Description of the Kailua Kona vacation Condo Rental 1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, 4 Sleeps

Receive a free nights stay as our gift when you stay at least five nights at our ocean front 1 bedroom suite overlooking beautiful Kailua Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. Just 1 block from the beautiful seaside village of Kailua Kona.

Hale Kona Kai (which means “Home by the Kona Sea”) is the only truly oceanfront condominium within easy walking distance of downtown Kailua Kona. If you want the convenience of staying "in town" plus the quiet seclusion of our little side-street hideaway then Hale Kona Kai is your only choice in Kailua Kona.

Why stay on noisy Alii Drive (where all the other condos are located) and have to walk an hour past traffic to get to town?

You can lounge on your private lanai while you watch the whales and dolphins play. Later, as the sun sets on paradise, listen (for free) to a romantic Polynesian serenade from your balcony. Walking distance (1 block) to the historic seaside village of Kailuas' dining, shopping, ocean sports and nightlife. <p>Swim in a protected lagoon with giant sea turtles. Take a day and drive to see our only active volcano, or do
nothing at all, its entirely up to you! Fully equiped kitchen, linens, cable tv, telephone, all the comforts of home in your polynesian playground. Free parking and wi-fi also!

Why stay in some cramped, noisy, cookie cutter motel room when you can relax in someone's home?

This is your dream vacation waiting just for you.

As low as $90/night for five nights.

Our beautiful one bedroom corner unit condo on the top floor (fourth floor) will sleep four people (with a king size bed in the bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room).

Normally our neighbors charge as much as $180/night in our building.

P.S If a golf vacation away from everything is more your speed then please visit our friends luxury condominium at Country Club Villas in Keauhou (less than 5 miles from Kailua Kona). Only $115/night.

Here are a couple of typical testimonials regarding our home at Hale Kona Kai....

Dear David and Frances:

After staying at several resorts that claimed to be oceanview in Kona we were both surprised
and delighted that your unit was everything you advertised.
Some of the other condos we rented before were dirty, smelly and not at all what we were promised.
Your condo was truly a blessing when we had just about given up on finding a premium place to stay in Kona
on a budjet.

To be this close to the ocean and so close to town also is really the best of both worlds. We REALLY liked the fact that we did not have to walk down noisy Alii drive in order to get to Kona! None of the other condos here could offer us that. What a perfect and peaceful little slice of Paradise that you guys have discovered. It is one in a million!

Respectfully
Jim and Nancy Deevers

Aloha David

Well, we have been back in the mainland now for a week and a half. I just have to tell you how much we absolutely loved your condo and its location. We walked into town every night after dinner to shop and listen to live music or just get a gelato and watch the volleyball games

You were right. After having been to all the islands, we have fallen in love with Kona and the Big Island. I cannot believe that all I had to do was to google tideldave and I found your wonderful website with dozens of pictures and a GREAT discount!!

If you should hear of anyone selling at your place, let me know. I talked to the woman in your office there and it sounds like your places are right in my price range.

We swam in the lagoon next door every morning. What a fabulous location. I can see why you fell
in love with the place when you found it.

We also took your suggestion and went for a wonderful dinner at Jamieson's. Your web site was so helpful.

Thank you again for sharing your condo with us.
Aloha,

Debby Vanderboom

All the amenities of home (full kitchen, linens, etc.)
All ocean and mountain activities available.

P.S. Here is some useful (I hope) information for your trip:

"Hawaii, The Big Island Revealed" by Andrew Doughty is a Great guidebook to use for our island!
There is a great section on Activities (with phone numbers) and another on the best Beaches.

· The Royal Kona Hotel (next door to us) serves breakfast and dinner buffets.
Check for sandwich and drink specials at the bar, which is also oceanfront, right next to the
restaurant (last time we were there, they had a $4 Mai Tai and a $5 Mahi Mahi sandwich platter).
Happy hour is almost every night from 4-7pm.

Huggos on the Rocks (next to Royal Kona)is a great place to get pastries/scones in the morning.
I usually wake up and Frances has already walked over there to buy us some breakfast! It is also a
good/cheap place to enjoy a light dinner by the ocean.

Also look for coupons in the "101 Things To Do" magazine for breakfast and dinner specials. The
magazine is free and you can find them everywhere in Hawaii.

· Probably our favorite restaurant for the combination of food and setting is "Jamesons By the
Sea", which is just south of our condo at Disappearing/Magic Sands Beach. The surf breaks (and the
surfers crash) just a few yards from your table. It is very expensive though, so you will want to
look for coupons (Hilo Hatties department store was offering 2 for 1 lunch coupons when you bought
a garment of theirs).

Probably our favorite restaurant for the price/value is the Kamuela Deli. It is an unimpressive
looking diner behind the Starbucks and next to the KTA grocery store on Palani Rd. It is in the
little strip mall called Kona Coast Shopping Center. All the locals eat there. Lots of good food
for a great price!!

· Kahulu’u Beach, which is located just a few miles south of the condo on Alii Drive is a great
beach for snorkeling. There are usually sea turtles everywhere and lots of colorful fish to see.
The "new" bar/snack bar behind the stone wall on the south end of the bbeach has great lunches for
about $6 (including platters of broiled fish and the best potato/macaroni salad anywhere)!

· If you haven’t seen a black sand beach, Punalu’u Beach in very easy to get to and very
picturesque! It is on the south end of the Island. You might want to stop by on your way to
Volcano or the Place of Refuge.

· Another beautiful beach is Hapuna Beach, just north of the airport. Plan at least half a day.
It is always in the top five when travel magazines name the worlds most beautiful beaches. Muana
Kea Beach which is also close by is worth a look (stay after dark and you can watch manta rays
attracted by the lights on the north end of the beach). The luau there is also excellent.

. If you are interested in getting REALLY close to the whales, the best trip by far is Captain Dan
Mcsweeneys Whale Watching Tour. You can call and reserve a space at 1-808-322-0028. He has been
doing research on the whales for many years now and he is definitely the most knowledgeable.

· The snorkle trip to Kealekekua Bay to see the tropical fish is awesome. There are several boat
trips to choose from. It just depends on how much you want to spend.

` The Captain Beans Dinner Cruise is also very entertaining (especially if you enjoy seeing other
tourists having to wear grass skirts and dance with the natives). My wife has not stopped laughing
at me yet!

· Its about a 20 minute drive to the town of Kealekekua, which is a neat little artist community
(while you are there you might stop by ST. BENEDICT’S CHURCH, also called the Painted
Church....the view of the coastline from this area is spectacular).

· There a two really good places to eat near there, The Aloha Theatre Café and The Coffee Shack
(which is actually in Captain Cook). Both are reasonably priced.

· Most anywhere you eat north of the airport (Kohala) will be very good and very expensive. While
you are in that area stop by the Hilton Waikoloa Village...it has been called the "Disneyworld of
Hawaii".

· The Kona Brew Co. is a good place for lunch (sandwiches/pizza). Be sure to try some of the
local beers, they are quite good.

· If you decide to drive around the island, one day   (you will need ALL DAY), there are lots of
waterfalls and gorgeous scenery around Hilo. Don’t miss Akaka Falls. Rainbow Falls is also very
pretty.

· Volcano National Park is very interesting and well worth a visit. You could probably take the
Crater Rim drive, which would give you a good overview, and then drive down to the ocean to see
where the lava "explodes" into the sea. You can see the "tower" of steam that it creates from
miles away.

· TIP: Those "reef shoes" that you can wear while in the water are well worth buying and will
save your feet.. (Walking on coral is not that much fun) If you don’t have any, you can get them
just about anywhere. Cheap ones work just fine.

· Just sitting on our lanai and watching the sun set (everybody watches the sunsets) is definitely
a required activity. On nights that the Royal Kona has their luau next door, you can hear the
music while sitting on the lanai which is kinda romantic…
